Future Assemblies Lab is the academic research branch of Future Assemblies.

FA_Lab is based at the University of Manitoba, in the Centre for Architectural Structures and Technology (C.A.S.T.) 

FA_Lab balances hands-on learning and experimentation with computational integration. We use digital tools to experiment with new methods of creating resource-efficient constructive methodologies.

  • July -- FA_Lab will be presenting a full-scale natural stone prototype through Creative Practices at ICSA 2027 in Milan.
  • June -- FA_Lab receives UM Creative Grant funding to support research into demountable modular prestressed stone building frames.
  • June -- Three paper abstracts accepted to ICSA 2027 in Milan.
  • May -- Three undergraduate researchers are joining the lab this summer to assist in research on digital material passports, housing design, and advancing the Pixelframe research.
  • April-- Paper abstract accepted to IASS 2026 in Torino.
  • March -- FA_Lab completes the structural testing of a full-scale Pixelframe beam.
  • February -- FA_Lab is born.
